Rough Notes : Preferences and Utility

چکیده
Voluntary Exchange. If an airline mechanic gets paid $30,000 a year, it must be that the mechanic would rather have the money than the leisure time, while the airline would rather have the mechanic than have the money. Another example: apartment rentals. That is, price is bounded below by what the seller will accept: the supply price, and bounded above by what the buyer is willing to pay: the demand price. If there is any room between these (as there usually is) then either the buyer or the seller (usually both) obtain a surplus on the transaction. For example, the mechanic might have accepted a job at $25000 a year, it that was the only job available; the airline might have been willing to pay $40000 a year, if no one would work for less.

Investigating the Role of real Money Balances in Households' Preferences function in the Framework of the Assets Pricing Models (M-CCAPM): Case study of Iran
In this paper, we try to develop and modify the basic model of the consumption-based capital asset pricing model by adding the growth in real money balances rate as a risk factor in the household's utility function as (M-CCAPM). For this purpose, two forms of utility function with constant relative risk aversion (CRRA) preferences and recursive preferences have been used such that M1 and M2 are...
متن کاملNotes and Comments Overcoming Incentive Constraints by Linking Decisions1 By
Consider a Bayesian collective decision problem in which the preferences of agents are private information. We provide a general demonstration that the utility costs associated with incentive constraints become negligible when the decision problem is linked with a large number of independent copies of itself. This is established by defining a mechanism in which agents must budget their represen...
متن کاملDesign of Reliability Insurance Scheme Based on Utility Function for Improvement of Distribution Grid Reliability
The regulatory schemes currently used for reliability improvement have weaknesses in the provision of quality services based on the customers’ perspective. These schemes consider the average of the service as a criterion to incentivize or penalize the distribution system operators (DSOs). On the other hand, most DSOs do not differentiate electricity services at the customer level, due to the st...
متن کاملBi-objective Build-to-order Supply Chain Problem with Customer Utility
Taking into account competitive markets, manufacturers attend more customer’s personalization. Accordingly, build-to-order systems have been given more attention in recent years. In these systems, the customer is a very important asset for us and has been paid less attention in the previous studies. This paper introduces a new build-to-order problem in the supply chain. This study focuses on bo...
متن کاملExplaining Heterogeneity in Risk Preferences Using a Finite Mixture Model
This paper studies the effect of the space (distance) between lotteries' outcomes on risk-taking behavior and the shape of estimated utility and probability weighting functions. Previously investigated experimental data shows a significant space effect in the gain domain. As compared to low spaced lotteries, high spaced lotteries are associated with higher risk aversion for high probabilities o...
